This is an expensive way of allowing file attachments from the record. See Files, Content, Attachments etc.

If you are doing anything with MailMerge, just get Drawloop - (formerly Nintex Document Generation) instead, which will allow you to attach files, whilst sending out emails (with one limitation. Drawloop only works IF it has attachments).
