Why? Why does this app even exist? What is it meant to be used for?

Chat
Why do you need Chat? I’m serious. Despite all the issues with Chatter why is creating a chatter post on a record not good enough? Why do you think you need synchronous communication? Why isn’t the almost synchronous nature of Chatter, when two people are logged in, not good enough?
Why do you need secret chats between users about a record?
What information is being shared on this chat that actually everyone else who looks at the record actually needs to see anyway?
Now, I don’t have this sandbox set up on Quip, so maybe IF you could chat to non Salesforce users then maybe that would be OK, but I would STILL want to see that on the record. If I create say an Account Team Plan document in Quip and attach it to the record, I can still see the chat on that page on that record. With this app, no one can see it except those people chatting.
Here’s a controversial opinion… If you think you need this App for the Chat capability you are not using Chatter properly - convince me otherwise. I have a majority of my clients using Chatter really really effectively and not one of them has said they need private chat messages.
Alerts
I had really really really high hopes for the Alerts functionality and if it actually worked, it would be almost good. HOWEVER. No alerts in Lightning. Why do I need YET another app to show Alerts? The Alerts only show in Notification and not as Badges even though I have Badges set in iOS settings.
