  • You can add Components Manually which is a nice new feature since the pilot. To do this you need to fully understand your Metadata, which I encourage you to learn more about, but you don’t need to do this step - you can rely on the Source Tracking.

    • It is interesting that it is a nicer UI than Change Sets but does not have any of the related Metadata Search that is built into Change Sets already and could easily be added to this UI. Such a miss.

  • You can’t REMOVE Components after you add them, but you can just not select them to be committed for this Work Item.

Changes in Prod

  • You are meant to be able to sync your Dev Org with changes made in Prod. Do this rather than refreshing your sandbox too often (don’t refresh while Work Items are in progress).

  • However it did not seem to work. I will have to try it again.

Tips

  • Start SLOW! Just go from one Sandbox to Production and get used to that.

  • Then work with your Dev team to work out the “pipeline” and how Sandboxes will be managed.

  • You can use your DevOps centre in one org and use it to deploy to and from completely different orgs. So me as a Partner, I install it in my Partner Org and can have one central place for all the deployment of all my client’s orgs. As it’s not data, it’s just metadata, I don’t have a problem in keeping them all together. I have previously kept the metadata of all my client orgs in Bitbucket for backup.
